The route

Working Kuna

Kuna is south of everything, and we reach it from the shop by dropping straight down Eagle Rd or Locust Grove to Amity and Lake Hazel, or down Meridian Rd, until the subdivisions of Kuna start rising out of the fields. Indian Creek runs through the old downtown, Swan Falls Rd heads out toward the desert and the Snake River, and the new neighborhoods fan out east and west of Meridian Rd, one street of rooftops after another. A good share of Kuna commutes to Micron, which is why we keep early and late windows open for it. The route is one of the shorter ones on our map, closer to the shop than most of Boise, and there is no distance surcharge for Kuna.

Kuna’s housing is mostly ten years old or less: two-story and single-story subdivisions with big three-car garages, a builder-grade appliance set in the kitchen, and a second refrigerator or chest freezer in the garage. Outside the city water boundary, homes sit on private wells, and even city water here is hard. Softeners are common, and a softener that ran out of salt shows up first as film on the dishwasher glasses. Garages take the weather: single-digit nights in January stall the freezer, and hundred-degree August afternoons cook a fridge whose coils are packed with dust off the fields. The builder packages fail in a pattern we know well, one inlet valve and one igniter at a time.

What Kuna calls about

ApplianceWhat we see most here
RefrigeratorsSecond fridges and chest freezers in three-car garages that stop cycling in a January cold snap or run nonstop in August; a Samsung French-door with an iced evaporator.
DryersBuilder-grade Whirlpool and Samsung dryers hitting their first thermal fuse or heating element; vents to the roof packed with field dust.
WashersFront-loaders in 2010s subdivisions with scaled inlet screens and slow fills; door locks failing on LG and Samsung pairs; a drain pump jammed.
DishwashersCloudy glasses when the softener runs dry; a scaled element and spray arm; a drain hose that was never given its high loop under the sink.
Ranges & ovensGlass-top GE and Frigidaire ranges from the builder package with a dead zone; gas ranges on acreage off Swan Falls Rd with weak igniters.
Ice makersFill valves narrowed by well-water scale in Samsung and Whirlpool French-doors, small cubes, a frozen fill tube, a module that quit.
Fridge

Fridge · three-car garage east of Meridian Rd

A chest freezer against the far wall of a big Kuna garage, found thawed after a stretch of single-digit nights. The thermostat read the cold garage as satisfied. We meter it, fit the heater kit the model allows, and the owner keeps a freezer running through the rest of winter.

Dishwasher

Dishwasher · subdivision off Ten Mile

A 2018 house, Whirlpool dishwasher, every glass cloudy since spring. The softener in the garage has been empty for two months. Element reads fine but wears scale, spray arm half blocked. We descale, clear the arm, run a hot cycle, and show the owner the difference on a single glass.

Dryer

Dryer · near Indian Creek

An electric Samsung in a laundry room off the garage, three years old, running cold. Heating element open on the meter. The vent to the roof is packed with dust from the fields to the south. New element from the truck, vent cleared, airflow confirmed at the roof jack before the invoice is written.

Washer

Washer · Micron shift worker, west Kuna

A front-load LG that stops before the spin with a door-lock code. The owner works nights at Micron, so we take an early window. The lock assembly reads open on the meter. We replace it, run a spin to the end, and leave the written warranty on the counter before the owner heads to bed.

Dryer repair in Kuna

$99 diagnostic, inside the repair you approve · all pricing after the diagnostic, in writing

Kuna dryers are young and working hard. A builder-grade Whirlpool or Samsung that came with a 2017 house is now old enough to lose a heating element, a thermal fuse or an igniter, and the vent to the roof has had years to collect dust off the surrounding fields. We meter the heat circuit, check airflow at the roof jack, and hand you one written number. The $99 diagnostic sits inside that number, or is the whole bill if you say no.

What you noticeWhat it usually isWhat we do
Runs cold on a three-year-old machineHeating element open on electric, igniter or valve coils on gasMeter the element or igniter, replace from the truck, confirm heat
Loads take longer every monthVent to the roof filling with lint and field dustRead airflow at the roof, clear the run, replace crushed flex
Trips the breaker or shuts off warmShorted element grounding to the housing, or a motor overheatingMeter the element to ground, replace, check the motor and airflow
My Kuna house is only a few years old. Why is the dryer already failing?

Builder-grade machines are built to a price, and Kuna households run them hard. A heating element or thermal fuse in the first five years is common, especially when a long roof vent has been quietly filling with dust. We fix the part and clear the vent so the next one lasts.

Washer repair in Kuna

$99 diagnostic, inside the repair you approve · all pricing after the diagnostic, in writing

The front-load pairs that came with Kuna’s 2010s and 2020s subdivisions are hitting their first real failures: a door lock that will not release, a drain pump full of grit, an inlet valve narrowed by hard well water until the fill times out. Softened water helps; raw well water speeds it up. We meter the lock, pump and valve, name the failed part, and write one price. $99 for the diagnosis, included in the repair if you approve.

What you noticeWhat it usually isWhat we do
Door locked, cycle will not startDoor lock assembly failed or the board cannot read itMeter the lock, replace, run a cycle to the end
Supply error partway through the fillInlet screens and valve scaled from well waterClean the screens, replace the valve, time the fill
Drum full, drain pump hummingPump jammed with a coin or a child’s sock, or the impeller brokenClear or replace the pump, run a drain-and-spin
Are Kuna washers on private wells different to repair?

The repair is the same; the wear is faster. Well water outside Kuna’s city boundary is very hard, and an inlet valve on raw water scales in a few years. We replace the valve, clean the screens, and tell you plainly what the water looked like inside the old one so you know where the softener stands.

Refrigerator and freezer repair in Kuna

$99 diagnostic, inside the repair you approve · all pricing after the diagnostic, in writing

Kuna refrigerators live in two places: the kitchen and the three-car garage. The kitchen unit, often a Samsung or LG French-door from the builder package, loses an evaporator fan or ices up behind a failed defrost heater. The garage unit meets Kuna weather head-on, stalling below forty degrees in January and cooking behind dusty coils in August. A warm refrigerator gets a same-day window. We meter first and write one number with the $99 inside it.

What you noticeWhat it usually isWhat we do
French-door warm on top, freezer fineEvaporator fan failed, damper stuck or the evaporator icedMeter the fan and defrost circuit, replace, verify airflow
Chest freezer in the garage thawed in JanuaryCabinet dropped below the thermostat’s range, unit stoppedMeter the thermostat, fit a garage kit or advise indoor storage
Second fridge running nonstop in summerCondenser coils packed with field dust, heat not leavingClean the coils, meter the compressor and fan, check the pull-down
Can you fix a Samsung French-door in Kuna that keeps icing up?

Yes. Samsung French-doors from the builder packages are common in Kuna, and an iced evaporator behind the back panel is one of their known patterns. We meter the defrost heater, thermostat and fan, replace the failed piece, clear the ice, and run the unit down to temperature before writing the warranty.

Stove, range and oven repair in Kuna

$99 diagnostic, inside the repair you approve · all pricing after the diagnostic, in writing

Kuna ranges are mostly the electric glass-tops that came with the house, GE, Frigidaire and Whirlpool, with gas ranges in the custom builds and out on the acreage toward Swan Falls Rd. A glass-top zone that stays cold, an oven that will not hold temperature, an igniter clicking away after a boil-over. We meter the element, limiter, igniter and sensor, name the part, and write one number. The $99 diagnosis is inside the repair you approve.

What you noticeWhat it usually isWhat we do
One glass-top zone deadRadiant element failed or a limiter switch openedMeter the element and limiter, replace, confirm all zones
Oven temperature swings wideTemperature sensor drifted or a relay on the board stickingMeter the sensor, replace sensor or board, probe-check the cavity
Gas igniter clicks nonstopSpark module wet from a spill or a cracked igniterDry and test the module, replace the igniter, light every burner
My Kuna oven is a builder-grade GE that runs hot. Can that be fixed?

Usually. A temperature sensor that has drifted reads the cavity low and lets it overshoot. We meter the sensor against a known temperature and replace it if it is out of range. If the control board is the cause, we say so and write the number before anything is ordered.

Dishwasher repair in Kuna

$99 diagnostic, inside the repair you approve · all pricing after the diagnostic, in writing

A Kuna dishwasher that turns out cloudy glasses is usually reporting on the softener in the garage. When the salt runs out, hard well water hits the element and spray arm and leaves scale that cuts cleaning within weeks. Other calls: water left in the bottom from a drain hose never given a high loop, a latch that stops registering, a door that leaks. We meter the element and pump, and hand you one written price, $99 inside.

What you noticeWhat it usually isWhat we do
Glasses cloudy since the softener ran dryScale on the element and spray arm from raw well waterDescale or replace the element, clear the arm, run a hot cycle
Water standing after every cycleDrain hose looped low, pump clogged, or a check valve stuckRe-route the hose, clear the pump, drain-test
Door leaks at the cornerWorn gasket or a lower rack hitting the spray armReplace the gasket, check clearances, run a wash and watch the floor
Is a builder-grade dishwasher in a Kuna house worth repairing?

Often, yes. Elements, pumps, latches and gaskets on the common Whirlpool and Frigidaire builder units are truck stock. We tell you what failed and give you one written number, and you decide. If the machine is not worth fixing, we say so; we do not sell dishwashers, so there is no push either way.

Ice maker repair in Kuna

$99 diagnostic, inside the repair you approve · all pricing after the diagnostic, in writing

The ice maker in a Kuna French-door is the first thing the well water gets. Its fill valve is tiny, and scale narrows it until cubes come out small and hollow, then stops it. A fill tube freezes after a dripping valve; a Samsung or LG module gives out early. We test the valve coil and the module, clear the fill tube, and put one number in writing. $99 buys the diagnosis; approve the repair and it is already inside the price, decline and it is the only charge.

What you noticeWhat it usually isWhat we do
No ice, no sound from the moduleModule failed or the fill valve coil openMeter both, replace, watch a full harvest
Hollow, undersized cubesFill valve narrowed by well-water scaleNew fill valve, pressure checked, fill volume measured
Ice maker frozen into a blockFill tube iced from a dripping valve or a defrost issue in the ice compartmentThaw the tube, replace the valve, check the compartment heater
Why does my Kuna Samsung ice maker keep freezing up?

Samsung French-door ice compartments are known for icing when a small air leak or a weak defrost lets frost build around the maker. We clear the ice, check the compartment seal and heater, and replace what the meter says has failed. A written warranty covers the repair, and the $99 is inside the number.

Kuna questions

Is Kuna inside your area, and is there an extra charge for the drive?

Kuna is inside the area and there is no distance surcharge. We come straight south from the shop on Locust Grove or Meridian Rd, one of our shorter runs, with the truck stocked for the builder-grade machines common in Kuna subdivisions. The $99 diagnostic and the written price are the same as anywhere else we work.

I work shifts at Micron. Can you come early or late in Kuna?

Yes. We hold early and late windows for shift workers, and Kuna has a lot of them. Tell us when you are home and awake and we will fit it. If you would rather not be there, a garage code or a family member at home works too, and the written number can be approved by text.

Why did my Kuna fridge stop cycling in the garage?

When the garage falls below about forty degrees, a refrigerator with a single thermostat reads the cabinet as cold and stops running the compressor. The freezer side thaws. Some models take a garage kit that keeps them cycling; others need to live indoors in winter. We meter the thermostat and tell you which you have.

Does the $99 apply to my Kuna repair the same as in Boise?

Exactly the same. You pay $99 for a diagnosis done with a meter. We name the failed part in plain words and give you one written number. Approve, and the $99 is inside that number. Decline, and $99 is the whole bill. Nothing is priced before the diagnostic, and it is all in writing.
