LG appliance repair in Boise and across the Treasure Valley

LG front-loaders and French-door refrigerators went into a great many Eagle, Meridian and North End kitchens over the last fifteen years, and their habits are well known to us: a drain pump that hums with an OE code, a linear compressor that runs and never cools, an Er FF flashing on the door.

LG in the Treasure Valley

LG in Treasure Valley kitchens and laundry rooms

LG · Treasure Valley

LG shows up in two kinds of valley homes. The first is the upgraded kitchen in Eagle, Hidden Springs or a North End remodel, where a homeowner chose an LG French-door refrigerator and matching range over the builder’s offering. The second is the 2015 to 2023 subdivision in Meridian, Star or Kuna where a Costco run put in an LG front-load pair. The refrigerators are known for a compressor that runs while the box warms, and a fan that fails behind frost. The washers earn their OE and UE codes with a drain pump that jams and a bearing that roars through spin. LG dryers stop early on a coated moisture sensor, or show d80 when the vent is packed.

Hard water is the valley’s contribution. LG inlet valves feed through fine screens, and in Meridian and Nampa those screens turn white with scale until the washer throws IE for slow fill. The fill valve on an LG ice maker narrows the same way and the cubes come out small and cloudy, or the fill tube freezes on a dribble. LG dishwashers without a working softener scale up the heater and spray arms until glasses come out chalky. Garage LG refrigerators in West Boise and on the Bench face a January garage below forty and an August garage near a hundred, and Owyhee wind dust blankets the condenser. None of it is exotic; all of it is fixable.

LG faults we see most

MachineCommon symptomWhat it usually isWhat we do
WasherOE code and water left in the drum, or UE and a walking spinDrain pump clogged or failed; suspension rods or a load sensor causing unbalanceClear and meter the pump, replace if failed; check suspension, level the machine, run a full spin
DryerStops early with damp clothes, or shows d80, d90, d95Moisture sensor coated with residue; vent blocked; heating element or thermistor failedClean the sensor bars, clear the vent to the exit, meter the element and thermistor, replace
RefrigeratorCompressor runs nonstop but nothing gets cold, or Er FF on displayLinear compressor losing capacity, or the freezer fan seized behind frostTest compressor amperage and inverter, thaw and meter the fan, replace what has failed
Range / ovenOven slow to preheat or F9 on the display, burner will not lightBake element open, oven sensor drifted, igniter weak or spark module failedMeter the element and igniter, read the sensor, replace the part, verify temperature
DishwasherOE code with water in the sump, or dishes still dirtyDrain pump blocked; wash arm and heater scaled; sump filter packedClear the pump and sump, descale the arms, meter the heater, run a full cycle
Ice makerNo ice, small hollow cubes, or ice fan noise from the doorFill valve narrowed by scale, fill tube frozen, ice fan or auger failedReplace the valve, thaw and correct the fill path, replace the fan or module

LG error codes worth photographing

IEInlet error on a washer or dishwasher, water is not filling in timeCheck hoses and pressure, clean scaled inlet screens, meter the valve coils, replace the valve
OEOutlet or drain error, the tub or sump did not empty in timeOpen the drain pump housing, clear debris, test the pump motor, check the hose and standpipe
UEUnbalanced load, the washer could not distribute the drum for spinCheck suspension rods and dampers, level the feet, test the hall sensor, replace worn parts
LELocked motor error, the drive motor or rotor could not turn the drumMeter the motor windings and hall sensor, inspect the rotor and stator, replace the failed part

How LG appliance repair runs on our trucks

An LG visit begins with the code on the display and ends with the meter. LG codes are helpful without being final. An OE points at the drain, but the fix may be a sock in the pump housing or a motor that reads open; a UE may be a light load or a broken suspension rod. On refrigerators we clamp an ammeter on the compressor and test the inverter board before deciding a linear compressor has lost capacity, because a failed fan or frosted evaporator can mimic it. The trucks carry the LG parts the valley uses: drain pumps, inlet valves, door locks, dryer elements and thermistors, evaporator and ice fans, defrost sensors. A compressor or main board is ordered, with no second trip fee on the return.

LG refrigerators from the last several years often have a compressor covered by the maker well beyond the first year, and we say so at the door when the diagnosis points there. You get the failed part named in writing, and you choose between taking that to the warranty holder or having us finish the job. Extended plans bought at the store work the same way. For LG machines past all of that, which is most of the washers and dryers we see in Meridian and the North End, we simply fix them. The pricing does not move: the $99 diagnostic is inside the written repair price you approve, it is the whole bill if you decline, and all pricing follows the diagnostic, in writing.

For any LG machine in the valley, the $99 diagnostic is folded into the written repair price you approve, there is one number, and the finished repair carries a written warranty. Book a repair →

LG questions

My LG refrigerator runs all the time but is not cold. Is the compressor done?

It might be, and it might not. LG linear compressors can lose capacity while running, but a seized evaporator fan or a defrost failure produces the same warm box with a running compressor. We meter compressor amperage, test the inverter board and check the fan and defrost circuit before naming the part. If it is the compressor, we tell you what coverage may apply.

What does an LG OE code mean and can you fix it the same day?

OE means the washer or dishwasher did not drain in time. On an LG washer it is usually debris in the drain pump housing or a pump that has failed, and we carry the pumps. Most OE calls in Boise and Meridian finish in one visit. We clear the housing, meter the pump, replace it if needed and run a full drain and spin.

Do you repair LG dishwashers as well as LG washers and refrigerators?

Yes. LG dishwashers in the valley mostly suffer from hard-water scale on the heater and spray arms, a sump filter packed with grit and a drain pump that stops. We descale, clear and meter, replace what has failed and run a full cycle. Softener advice comes free when the scale tells the story.

My LG dryer quits early and the clothes are still wet. What is wrong?

Usually the moisture sensor bars inside the drum are coated with dryer-sheet film, so the dryer thinks the load is dry. A blocked vent produces similar early stops and may show d80 or d90 on the display. We clean the sensor, clear the vent to the outside cap, meter the heating element and thermistor, and run a load to prove it.

Do you work for LG or are you independent?

Independent. We are a Meridian-based Treasure Valley company that services and repairs LG washers, dryers, refrigerators, ranges, dishwashers and ice makers across the Treasure Valley, with the same meter-first diagnosis and written quote we use for every brand. Our written warranty covers the repair we do, and we are clear about what LG itself may still cover.
